I know you all want see L dead, but sadly, there are about
four different things that are keeping me from killing her off.
Numero Uno (and probably the most important one) there is
something horribly plot related contingent on her death. Book 5 is most likely
not going to work unless she dies later in Dead Inside, sorry. On the bright
side, though, there might be a point where she goes too far and Riku kills her
anyways, I probably won't have control over that, and if that does happen a)
she'll die sooner like you all want her to and b) I'll probably get a headache
trying to reconfigure book 5. But, if I'M lucky, some character is going to
work it out for me (like 19 did with that one thing, and like Alpha did just
recently...)
Numero Dos! 37. He is refusing to let me kill her just about
as much as she's refusing to die. It's a bit annoying, but I suppose I don't
blame him. Any man in his right mind (though, funnily enough, we're questioning
whether or not 37 actually is in his right mind or if something went wrong in
his data...) would do anything to protect the woman he loves (Ug... I'm going
to ignore the fact that i just said that sentence in relation to 37 and L...)
Riku would, in a heartbeat, die for Namine (though I'm sure she'd protest).
Sora's done a million stupid things for Kairi. Zack has- well- Zack has thrown
himself in the line of danger for quite a few different people, so he's a bad
example. But you get the point.
Numero Tres! L herself. She's pretty darn smart. She's not
going to go and say anything to make Riku mad. Well, she might say things that
will make him mad, but she's not going to purposely do anything that will
ABSOLUTELY piss him off. She isn't going to call Namine defective; she KNOWS
that's a one way ticket to a painful death. She is going to do her best to keep
from fighting him more than she has to. Plus, she's been through his memories
and knows a good few tricks to KEEP him from actually harming her (I mean, the
real Larxene had to do the same thing, so...)
Numero Quatro! Riku. It's not that Riku's gotten worse. L is not smarter than him. L is not a better fighter than him. Riku's just gotten... better. He's tired of the fact that the moment something goes wrong he's got his blade at someone's throat. He's tired of letting his anger get the best of him. He's tired of killing people without much of a reason. He's going to think things through. And, sure, maybe he's thinking too much (it wouldn't be the first time) but he'd rather think things through than not think at all and have something terrible happen (like- wait! Riku! Shut up about that! That hasn't happened yet!)
