BBS explanation thing

this has gotten moved around SO MANY times you would not BELIEVE

As of January 17 2015 (or, perhaps sooner, honestly) most of this information is INCORRECT.

The BBS page on the main blog has been updated with accurate information and clarification on certain things. Please see that, and perhaps pretend this page does not exist.

In my Falling to Pieces KH fic, there has been a LOT of questions concerning Birth by Sleep (okay… maybe not a lot… at least a few…) and how it fits into my universe.

Whelp (I sound like Mickey! lol), I FINALLY figured it out, and bothered to write it all down! Or, rather, I had it figured out, and I realized it was too long to put in an author’s note, so I’m writing it out in more detail and posting it here on my profile.

Birth by Sleep took place about… sevenish years before the Truth Hurts. The storyline pretty much remains the same, with a few MINOR details. For starters, Riku wasn’t there, so Terra didn’t pass the Keyblade on to him, therefore, Aqua passed the Keyblade on to Sora (which she was intending to do in the game, but didn’t). As another detail, Kairi grew up on the Islands.

Now… I’m going to skip the storyline, because that was pretty much the same.

The ending of Birth by Sleep happened the same way, too. Terra got possessed by Xehanort, and Ven lost his heart. As in the game, Aqua took Ven back to the Land of Departure, and transformed it into Castle Oblivion, and then went to find Terra. Now, the encounter with Terranort is a SMIDGE different. Terra either… wasn’t fighting back as hard, or… Xehanort was more powerful… Whatever it was, Xehanort was completely in control (I might write that scene some time, it sounds like fun). And, Aqua did end up in the Realm of Darkness after that. It was probably to save Terra, but it is entirely possible that Xehanort just decided he was done with her and sent her away.

Now, here come the questions as to “how does this all fit?” Well, I’m getting there, there’s one more thing I have to explain.

The destruction/plunging into darkness of Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden (so confusing!). I know in the games (or, KH1) it’s said that Maleficent destroyed Radiant Garden. However, I always thought it would make sense if Xehanort destroyed it as him and his followers turned themselves into Heartless and Maleficent just showed up and ended up taking the blame for it. In my fic, it happened just like that. But… it did NOT happen nine years before the Truth Hurts.

It happened roughly… three or four years prior.

I know what you’re thinking. “But Leon said in Falling to Pieces that it was nine years!”

Well, he lied. It was all poor planning on my part, and at the time I was almost copying the script of KH1 completely. But… he… lied, I guess. Just pretend he said three years, kay? Because that’s what it really is.

I still know what you were thinking.

“But… three years? Is that enough time!?”

Well, umm… yes. Because, if you REALLY think about it, how much time do you NEED to successfully start an Organization? Do you SERIOUSLY need almost ten years? I don’t think so. I think three years is plenty of time for them to find twelve members and for Vexen to start up the Replica Program. I mean, it takes… an hour to successfully build a Replica, maybe less? He’s got THREE YEARS worth of time.

Now to the big question. The question: “But HOW does it all fit?”

I’ve been asked: “Why haven’t they found Ven? He’s in Castle Oblivion, right?”

Well, yes. But, the room that he’s in is hidden PRETTY well.

Another question: “Did Sora run into Aqua while in the Realm of Darkness?”

No. No he didn’t. Aqua was out by that point.

“WHAT!? Aqua got out of the Realm of Darkness!? WHEN!?”

Well, sometime around the end of the Truth Hurts, when the universe was bent freakishly out of shape and it was trying to fix itself, it spat her out of the Realm of Darkness. It obviously didn’t quite help much, as Sora still ended up falling into darkness. But still, while the universe was trying to fix itself, she got spat out of the darkness.

Now you’re curious about Ven, huh?

Well, he was inside Sora’s heart. That didn’t change.

I’ve confused you, huh?

Now you’re like: “OHMIGOSH! That doesn’t make sense! Was? Where is he now? How is it plausible that his heart found its way back to his body?”

Well, Ven’s heart is pure light. LIGHT. Do you honestly think he could withstand all the darkness building up inside of Sora? Don’t answer that! Because, I’m sure someone is going to say yes, it probably would have been fine. But, for the purpose of everything working in my universe, it wasn’t fine. Well, it was fine, for a bit. And then Ansem invaded Sora, which probably put Ven on edge, and then Ansem dragged Sora down into darkness. It was about that point that Ven couldn’t take any more and was forced to leave Sora.

“OH NO! However does our poor Ven survive?”

That is a VERY good question. I mean, the trek is too far for him to make it back to his body, right? Does this mean his heart is just floating in nothingness and left for the Heartless?

No. That is not true. I mean, little Ven has got to have SOME sort of self preservation, right? So what did he do? He latched onto the closest living thing.

Riku.

“But, but, Riku’s data! Ven won’t survive inside Riku!”

Well, how long does it take for Riku to get to Castle Oblivion? Half an hour? Less?

It could have taken some time for Ven to realize that he couldn’t stay in Riku’s heart. And by the time he did realize that, he was in Castle Oblivion, and was like: “oh! There’s my body!” and went back there.

Would Riku have noticed?

Probably not.

And, at this point, Ven could have easily just walked out the front door of Castle Oblivion and went to go find Aqua or something. As of right now, both him and Aqua are alive, well, and trying to find Terra (which won’t happen… considering… Xemnas… and…).
